The Royal Melbourne Hospital (including Mental Health Services) is a prescribed Information Sharing Entity under the Family Violence Protection Act 2008 and the Child Wellbeing and Safety Act 2005.
Under the Family Violence information Sharing Scheme (FVISS) and Child Information Sharing Scheme (CISS), organisations that are prescribed as an Information Sharing Entity (ISE) have expanded ability to share confidential information with other ISEs to promote the wellbeing or safety of children or to assess or manage family violence risk.
How to request or voluntarily share information
If you are an ISE requesting or sharing information under one or both of these schemes:
- Complete the RMH Family Violence and Child Information Sharing Request form (PDF)
- Make sure that thresholds for sharing have been met, including consent requirements (see the Victorian Government's Information sharing guides, templates and tools for more information)
- Email your request to infosharing@mh.org.au - this email address is only for external organisations requesting information relating to the FVISS or CISS and not for any other requests for health information
Authorised ISEs or RAEs only
Requests for the release of information under the FVISS or CISS must be done by an authorised ISE or Risk Assessment Entity (RAE).
The RMH will verify that the requesting organisation is an authorised service before sharing any information.
