Congratulations to four current and former Royal Melbourne Hospital staff members recognised in the 2025 King’s Birthday Honours list for their outstanding contribution to medicine, research, training and their community.
Two staff members recieved the prestigious Member of the Order (AM), including:
- Professor Alistair Royse, cardiothoracic surgeon, for his “significant service to medicine as a cardiothoracic surgeon, researcher, educator and trainer” and;
- Professor David Wiesenfeld, Director of the Head and Neck Tumour Stream, for his “significant service to medicine as an oral and maxillofacial surgeon”.
Meanwhile Associate Professor Jeffrey Lefkovits, the RMH’s Deputy Director of Cardiology, was recognised with a Medal of the Order (OAM) for "service to medicine as a cardiologist".
Mr David Zerman, the former Executive Director of the RMH Foundation, also recieved an AM.
The RMH celebrates these distinguished staff members and thanks them for their contribution to advance health for everyone, every day.
